A True Picture
A search for a childhood that slipped away. I photograph children knowing the image I make can never quite hold them — so I hand it back. They paint directly onto their portraits and become co-authors of the picture. Two layers, two points of view. Is a true picture ever possible?

Fireworks
A collaboration with children on both sides of the lens. Some frames are mine; others they shot themselves, and some negatives they drew straight onto. The work asks who really owns the image — and where the brightness and the dark of childhood meet.

Souvenir Dolls
Souvenir dolls shot against a grid — a deliberate nod to the way human beings were once catalogued in the photography of racial biology. Sold as harmless keepsakes, many of these dolls are openly stereotyped. The series asks what we still choose to put on display, and why.

I'm Azra Halilović — a Stockholm-based photographer and retoucher with a deep background in fashion, e-commerce and editorial post-production. Years of high-volume retouch for major Nordic retail trained the eye; a parallel art practice keeps it honest.
